When I create a painting, I do not use canvas, it begins by cutting out the negative spaces between shapes out of wood. I compose a single piece using numerous overlapping forms that are pieces of my language developed over time. I use layers of oil paint and as the shapes interact and overlap, they create new colors as if there is a transparency connecting the shapes. I love the endless mix of color and form.
